Why Shea and Avocado?

Shea butter is a superfood for the skin that comes from the seeds of the fruit of the Shea (Karite) tree. It is naturally rich in vitamins A, E and F.  It offers some UV protection and provides the skin with essential fatty acids. In one study, it was also shown to reduce inflammation due to the presence of cinnamic acid. Shea butter aids in the skin's natural collagen production because it contains oleic, stearic, palmitic, and linoleic acids that protect and nourish the skin from dryness.

Avocado oil, which comes from the avocado fruit, has numerous properties which are great for the skin. From proteins to fats to antioxidants to lecithin to potassium, the amounts of nutrients in this oil are innumerable. Like shea butter, avocado oil enhances the skin's ability to produce collagen, which ensures the skin stays firm and smooth (not saggy and wrinkly!). Avocado oil can also be used as a natural treatment for skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, dry skin, diaper rash, and minor burns and wounds.

To make this special product, I work with a small company here in the United States that shares my passion for all-natural, healthy living. They make this thick body cream for me in small batches. I then add the same therapeutic-grade essential oils that I use in my soaps to create beautiful, fresh scents that perfectly coordinate with my handmade soaps.

My body creams are 99% natural, with a safe and effective preservative that is completey paraben-free. They are made without any petroleum-based products, parabens, dyes or synthetic fragrances. The creams are packaged in 4 oz. wide-mouth amber jars, then sealed with a disc and black lid.
